I’m Stephen and I work with all manner of clients advising on a variety of taxes and I have done for nearly 30 years. I wanted to go into tax as I knew I would learn something new every day and I’m glad to say that is still happening now. I love passing on that knowledge on whether it is within the team or our clients. I’ve advised on many transactions and re-organisations that have provided challenges which we have been able to overcome with commercial solutions.

My story
I qualified as a chartered accountant with an audit firm but soon after saw the light and joined an international firm to gain tax experience. I then spent time working at another firm in Manchester who kept losing clients to Beever and Struthers. I thought if you can’t beat them the join them and joined the team in 2005.

After looking after our Corporation Tax and Research and Development tax teams I became a partner in 2018 and now head up our tax and payroll departments. I’m very lucky to work with some great like-minded colleagues who care about our clients. I advise a number of ‘not for profit’ and ‘for profit’ clients on all manners of taxes including payroll taxes and deductions.

I do this too….
Swimming has been my main passion (before tax), being a former junior international and although I no longer compete, I still swim regularly and help out with my local club. I like travelling and have been fortunate to take my three children to many surprise places that have been used as locations in their favourite films or television shows. I’m a season ticket holder at Manchester United and have had many great times watching them (hopefully soon to return).
