Emerzon Somera

Business Intelligence Analyst/Developer

I’m Emerzon and I’m part of the newly formed Digital Transformation Team. Our team consists of passionate tech enthusiasts with unique skillset and experience that enables the delivery of solutions particularly around automation, systems advisory and data analytics. As data/digital pioneers within the company, our initial aim is to deliver technological solutions spanning across multiple departments internally and eventually explore similar opportunities for our clients.

Our team aims to bring Beevers and Struther’s digital maturity on par with the ever-so-evolving digital world. We focus on improving the ‘business as usual’ whether that’s through addressing data quality issues, implementing efficient process automation or extracting actionable insights through reporting and analysis. Our team provides the niche to help bring concepts or ideas that were previously gated behind technical-knowledge limitation to fruition.

My story
I joined the firm back in 2023. I spent the last 5 years working in various data-focused roles and picking up an arsenal of practical, technical and soft skills in the process. I have experience working with multiple companies, leading project workstreams and consulting clients who had visions of making better use of their data for more informed decision making. I like to think of myself as the bridge which connects the gap between data and stakeholders (or in the words of a former colleague of mine – a “data whisperer”).

I do this too…
The mindset of “All work and no play” spells disaster. I lived in the Philippines for the first decade of my life and that ingrained in me a deep appreciation for travel. Meeting people, learning other countries’ culture and trying out new cuisine – I could go on and on. I’m a strong advocate for exploring the world – No online video will ever come close to experiencing it firsthand.

There’s a huge stigmatism that people in tech are all introverted and not very sociable. If you asked anyone who knows me they’ll disagree. I love socialising and networking – whether this is through meals, drinks or through activities like minigolf or escape rooms.

I go to the gym to counteract the drawback of having a desk job. There’s something about breaking a ‘PB’ (Personal Best) that keeps me constantly motivated. I’m also a big fan of combat sports- particularly boxing and MMA and would definitely like to pick up and learn Muy Thai one day.
