Rachael Wright

Senior Manager

Hi, I am Rachael, I have spent the last 15 years working in Internal Audit, almost exclusively with not-for-profit organisations. My aim is for Internal Audit to be seen by our clients as a positive and fulfilling experience. My role enables the team and I to help our clients improve operations and achieve value-for-money for the benefit of their customers, whether that be social housing residents, students, or charitable beneficiaries. I am grateful for the opportunity to help in any way I can.

My story
My career in Internal Audit started out in local government, following which my focus has been on the social housing and education sectors, working also for central government clients, regulators, and charities along the way. I have worked as an Engagement Manager over the last 9 years to some of the largest organisations within these sectors, as well as leading on funding assurance work on behalf of the Education and Skills Funding Agency and Homes England.

I have also enjoyed playing a role in supporting aspiring accountants in gaining their qualifications, as well as helping to develop the RAA team. It is important to me that I give back to my local community and so I decided to volunteer as a school governor. This has given me the opportunity to the support the school’s journey to improve its Ofsted grading, and it has enabled me to gain an insight into the challenges our clients face and ‘see it from the other side’.

I do this too…
I love to travel, explore new places, go on long walks and runs in the countryside and attend different music events -I am now on my sixth Glastonbury. I enjoy playing card games with my Grandma (93 and still winning!) and I’m also kept busy with my two boys, having the best time making dens and playing football, until it comes to bedtime and tidying up!
