Sandra Houghton
Manager
I’m Sandra and I am one of the managers in the audit department, working for both the private and public sector. One of the things I most enjoy about my job is the mixture of clients I have, and working for both the private and public sector affords me that privilege. Also, as a manager I like to think I help with the training and mentoring of our budding trainee accountants.
The nitty-gritty
Working in the profession for over 30 years, I have earned the privilege to be regarded as “Qualified By Experience”.
My story
I joined the firm back in 2006 when Beever and Struthers merged with the firm I was working for. I worked predominantly in SME and the audit department at the beginning of my career and then moving full time into the audit team nearly 8 years ago as I enjoyed the client interaction of being out on-site auditing. Even though our world changed back in COVID I still enjoy that interaction either virtually or in person.
I do this too…
As a trained tap dancer, who performed alongside the late Ken Dodd as a diddyman in the 1970’s, I may have followed my heart into the performing arts, but it wasn’t to be. It’s never left me though and I still like to belt out the odd Shirley Bassey tune when staff Christmas parties allow.
My other passions are my football team and my dog. I am a long-standing season ticket holder at Manchester City, which at one time was a heavy cross to bear given my husband is a Manchester United supporter. Together we own a very boisterous Fox Red Labrador called Freddie and I am at my happiest when the three of us are out in the countryside or at the beach watching Freddie play.
